Her smokey vocals and passion for authentic musicianship creates a truly unique listening experience. MB began her full time professional music career at age 16 and since, has never held a "real" day job. She played cover shows in bars, nightclubs, and intimate venues 3 to 7 nights a week and is now focusing on her original music. She books as a solo or duo (drummer) act. Harmonious Health: An Interactive Musician Wellness Workshop with Savannah Clayton

Harmonious Health

Get your tickets here.

Being an emerging artist isn't easy.

We try to get money to record EPs. To get new guitars. To pay our bills. We lament our writer's block. We're always alert, keenly on the hunt for the next gig or the next bandmate. Social media sometimes feel more important than our creative process. We feel stressed out and dishonest for constantly self-promoting, self-marketing, and playing the musician's game.

EBASS knows it and so do you: as emerging artists, we want to learn how to pursue our craft while living wholly, healthily, and well. Certified Health Coach Savannah Clayton joins EBASS on April 20th to present a made-for-EBASS interactive wellness workshop that will leave artists feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to create healthy habits AND meaningful music.

You'll leave with a boatload of musician wellness best practices, including a "recipe" for the perfect practice session, tactics for re-energizing creative inspiration, and methods for silencing your internal critic.

Come get to know your local musician community, share your stories, and leave with new friends, new "practices", and a boatload of creative energy. Attendance is capped at 25; pre-registration required.

Location: Aeronaut Brewery

EBASS Volunteer Meeting: Open Letter to Local Bookers

Celebrate Local Women Artists

At The Power of Disbelief, ft. Mary Henriquez, Izy Coffey, Heather Woods, and Hailey Magee, EBASS shed light on the gender disparity in the Boston music scene. In 2015, fewer than 20% of all performers booked at Cambridge music venues were women.

We want to do more than raise awareness about this disparity. We want to take action to change it. We wrote an Open Letter to Local Bookers, urging them to "Think Before They Book" and make gender representation a priority in 2016.

At the show, the open letter got over 80 signatures. Now, we need to prep this letter for distribution.

Join EBASS Volunteers on Sunday, April 10th to prep our Open Letter for sending. We'll be writing hand-written notes to each local booker, preparing the signed letters, hand-addressing envelopes, and putting these Open Letters in the mail to over 20 bookers and venues in the Cambridge/Somerville scene.

Location: iYo Bistro, 234 Elm Street, Somerville MA

EBASS Open Mic ft. The Promise Is Hope

tpih.jpg

On February 19, The Promise is Hope will be our our EBASS Open Mic feature.

The Promise is Hope, the Worcester-based duo, is comprised of Ashley & Eric L’Esperance. Their music marries two distinctly talented songwriters. Ashley performs “subtle yet stunning” melodies with a classically-trained, but often folksy, voice. Eric’s obvious reverence for the great folk songwriters of the 60’s and 70’s shines through his sweetly deep voice. Ashley’s soft finger-picking style lays comfortably beneath Eric’s bright electric Washburn, and their voices blend effortlessly.

Danielle is a renowned Boston-based songwriter and blues artist. She's toured and played major venues across the United States and beyond, shining in both the Folk and Blues circuits including New York State Blues Festival, New Bedford Summerfest, The Narrows Center for the Arts (Fall River, MA), The Birchmere (Alexandria, VA), and the list goes on…. Danielle has shared the stage with the likes of Johnny Winter, Bettye Lavette, John Hammond Jr., Joan Osborne, John Mayall, Sonny Landreth, John Oates, and many more.

A note from Danielle: "Hey All! Looking forward to hearing and sharing tunes with you! Be sure to bring a song that you’re working on, stuck on, something that you like and feel has potential, but might need some fine-tuning. Don’t bring a song that you feel is complete. We’re not here to show off our best work, but to get an outside perspective on what’s working and what’s not working. You may be saying “Duh, obviously.” But I once had the experience of bringing what I thought was my best song at the time to a workshop and having the group-leader suggest I change the entire chorus. What!? So, bring something you’re not sure about. Sometimes just a little discussion and an outside ear can open up a world of possibilities. Bring your instrument, pen, paper…something to keep notes."
